Sunday 2 March 2014

Life will come to a standstill in India and Pakistan in a few hours when the cricket teams of the two countries clash in the 2014 Asia Cup. For the cricket fans of the two countries, this is one match which they don’t want their team to lose. Vineet Varma talks to three Indian fans ahead of the India-Pakistan match on Sunday.

Cricket fan Krishna Kumar (24) is eagerly awaiting the much-awaited contest like everyone else. The MBA student says, “I think it is going to be a great contest. The flat tracks used during the tournament will help the batsmen of either side to post huge scores. The toss will play an important role in determining which team gets the upper hand. The side batting second has a better chance of winning the game as the dew factor will come into play as bowlers will find it difficult to grip the ball. Pakistan have quality seamers in Umar Gul and Junaid Khan and, unlike the Indian fast bowlers, will be threatening. The role of the spinners could be decisive as the track could assist the slow bowlers. Virat Kohli has been in good knick in recent times and if he plays a big knock as he has been doing with regularity in the previous few matches then India surely look set to seal the contest with a flourish. I see India as favourites as they have a good track record in the sub-continent and also considering the fact that they will have the edge in the batting department. I expect the game to be a clash between the Pakistani bowling and the Indian batting.”
