Virat Kohli is a master in run-chases and the innings against South Africa in the ICC World T20 2014 semi-final is yet another proof of it. It was an innings that showed his great control and temperament despite a mounting run-rate and a quality bowling attack to counter. India beat South Africa by six wickets to get into the T20 World Cup final. Kohli scored an unbeaten 72 off 44 deliveries with five fours and two sixes.
A very pertinent feature of Kohli’s innings was the way he rotated strike and placed the ball in the gaps for ones and twos. In his first 50 runs, he had scored only 16 runs in boundaries, which is surprising considering that it is a T20 game. In all, Kohli got 40 runs in singles and twos.
